The Taiji Primordial Stance VI

The benefits of practicing the primordial stance are too numerous to enumerate, but to get the most benefit from the primordial stance practice, it is by no means as most people understand, just to hug your hands and squat your legs. We also have to pay attention to a lot of details. If we do not master these details, the practice may bring negative effects to our body. If you are interested in learning and exploring the primordial stance technique, please pay attention to the details one by one.

01 The upper segment

The head, face and neck are the upper segment of our body. The most important requirement for the upper segment practice of the primordial stance is xulingdingjin. The neck muscles are relaxed, the teeth and lips are gently closed, and the lower jaw is slightly retracted. The whole head goes back and up, and it feels as if there is a string tied to the Baihui point on the top of the head, and the head is slightly suspended. At this time, the ears on both sides are directly above the shoulders. Close your eyes gently, and look inside at Dantian, which is three centimeters below the navel.

Usually when practicing Taiji, we need to listen behind our backs. But when practicing the primordial stance, we have to listen to our breath. That’s right, listen to our own breathing.

Whether we are practicing the taiji routines or the primordial stance, we are asked to touch the upper palate with the tip of our tongue. The ancients called it the bridge of magpies, and it is an important link to connect the ren meridian and the du meridian.

According to the viewpoint of modern oral dynamics, it is the most natural, healthy and physiological way to lift the whole tongue up against the upper palate. If you do not want to cause deformed teeth due to practicing the taiji or the primordial stance, please lift your whole tongue up against the roof of your mouth.

02 The middle segment

The hands and torso are the middle segment of our body. When practicing the primordial stance, wrap your hands around your chest, loosen your shoulders and sink your elbows, raise your thumbs up, and keep your four fingers facing each other, about ten centimeters apart, with your palms facing your chest. The chest should be contained, the waist should be collapsed, and the heart energy should be lowered.

Now there is a popular practice method of backing up the vital gate and arching the lumbar spine when standing. We disagree with this practice. We think it disturbs the natural physiological state of the human body.

Due to the existence of the physiological curvature of the spine, the natural stance of the human body itself is contracted chest with sink waist, and there is no need to deliberately do it. We should just follow the traction of gravity, loosen and sink downward.

03 The lower segment

The legs are the lower segment of our body. The requirements for the lower segment include:

Standing with the feet shoulder-width apart, parallel or slightly outward, and then bending your knees loosely. Pay attention to the direction of the knee joints in line with the direction of the toes, and the knees should not be bent beyond the toes.

The hips should be loose and heavy, as if sitting on a high stool.

The crotch should be round.

The thighs on both sides should be opened outwards, with the intention of closed inwards.

The anus should be raised.

Pay attention to the coordination of upper and lower limbs, that is, shoulders and hips, elbows and knees, hands and feet.

As to the duration of the primordial stance practice, please follow your personal subjective feelings. Do it in a progressive style. Do not force yourself. The body condition of each person is different, so you should follow your own feeling and do not force it.

04 The inside

In our practice of the primordial stance, our body should be relaxed and our mind should be calm. Only when our mind is quiet and our spirit relaxed can our vital energy be aroused.

Through our practice of the primordial stance, we will find that there is such an inextricable connection between muscles and mind. As soon as the muscles tense, our mind immediately becomes chaotic. As soon as our thoughts are messed up, our muscles tense up.

The ancient sage said:

The ultimate yang will produce yin and the ultimate yin will produce yang.

The primordial stance technique is a process of the ultimate yin will produce yang, and the ultimate immobility will produce activity.

Has anyone ever wondered what happens when the mind is completely still, when the mind is so quiet that it leaves everything behind?

There is one breath and only one breath left in the world, This is the most real existence at the moment. For a split second, do you notice that something seems to be kicking in?

That’s right. It is our inner energy machine.

You will feel that the dantian in your lower abdomen is beating harmoniously with your heart, and the baihui acupoint and the yintang acupoint on top of your head are resonating harmoniously together. The sleeping pineal gland actually starts to glow. You can see the light even if you close your eyes.

Can you see the light?
