Perhaps You Cheat Yourself III

03 Back to the Present

A philosopher once said: The vast majority of people do not live a true life. They lack fresh life experience. Their love and hate and their desires and lack of desires are very shallow.

Their lives are like a very light calligraphic painting, nothing like an oil painting done with heavy oil.

This observation is especially evident in Chinese people.

Many people, whether they are suffering or happy, are all the same, and the scale of difference is not clear.

What is the happiest thing in your life? The vast majority of adults would say that nothing in life is particularly happy.

What is the saddest thing in your life? Many people will say one or two particularly sad things, but her expression at the moment shows that those one or two particularly sad things are not obvious to her.

In particular, ask some people if they have any special favorites. Some people have one or two special favorites, and some people do not even have one or two special favorites. Why? Their imprint on life is very shallow, and life lacks clarity and depth. A very important reason is that they do not observe their own life, experience the present moment, and unconsciously let it go.

As mentioned earlier, one mouthful of food needs to be chewed thirty six times, but this is actually just a quantitative guideline. We sometimes chew more than thirty six times at leisure, and less than thirty six times when we are in a hurry. The purpose of this exercise is to immerse ourselves in the feeling of eating, so that the moment we eat food, we really feel like we are eating.

A person who has loved a person with all his heart, or is in love with a person with all his heart, will know that when the feeling of being completely immersed in it, and the feeling of not being immersed in it are so vastly different deep down in his heart.

Many people, because they have deeply loved a person and have a deep foundation of communication and understanding, have discovered the inner part of their own life.

Only by being immersed in the moment, doing only one thing or breathing, at this moment, the inner feelings and thoughts are clearer and clearer. Only in this way can we be considered alive.

Time passes little by little, we do not know or remember what we have done, what we are doing now, what we are saying and doing. We are like the walking dead, confused. The quality of our life will definitely be a problem.

Those of us who have practiced life cultivation, or are naturally very sensitive, stand out. When we eat a food, whether there are additives in it, and where it goes to, we can feel it very clearly, because we always maintain a clear awareness.

This kind of awareness and insight is more sensitive than the average person, and this insight and awareness can be continuously improved through very simple training.

At every moment of the present, if we can clearly know the state of our body at the moment, what we do, what to say, the height and quality of our life, and our understanding of ourselves, there will definitely be a new change.

04 Change from Now

Let us do a little experiment. You go home and eat a bowl of millet porridge or a bowl of noodles. You chew thirty six times with each bite, or eat a little slower. Though it is the same millet porridge or noodle you have eaten before, you may find that the porridge or noodles are a little different now, because your feelings have changed.

When you go home, communicate with your partner or parents with whom you live day and night. Use an attitude of understanding, appreciation and acceptance. You will discover that they are the people who will accompany you through your whole life and have many warm and sweet memories.

Communication and understanding are very important in any relationship. Live with it.
