Adjusting Type E Phlegm-moisture Body

As practitioners of life cultivation, we like to adjust our body so that our body is in perfect balance and we are in perfect health.

The Type A constitution is referred to as the Pinghe Type, or the Neutral and Balanced type. This type of body constitution is the perfectly healthy body. All other types of body constitution is deviation from the Pinghe type.

We will differentiate the basic characteristics of each body constitution type. We will then discuss how we can adjust our body so that they become the Type A body constitution.

Herbal medicine is a practical science. In the long course of its development, many schools and branches of herbal medicine have undergone changes. However, with the progress of time, herbal medicine has evolved with time, although many people still misunderstand herbal medicine.

We may sum up herbal medicine with just one sentence.

Take the power of nature, coupled with the good fortune of God, we will achieve the beauty of success.

Classification of Body Constitution

The classification of body constitution is a relatively new concept. It was developed in the last thirty years.

Let us ask ourselves. Is our body a teddy bear or a fine lady?

Although everyone looks human on the outside, they are very different inside. With the onslaught of various bad lifestyles, we have developed mental stress leading to hair loss, inability to sleep and poop, etc. There are fewer and fewer healthy people.

Many people will say that humans are living longer now compared to that of a caveman and that proves that we are healthier than before.

But which is more important, quality of life or length of life? Actually, it’s all important. If we spend the rest of our life in bed, is it not a tragedy?

Thus, we will look into different types of body constitution, and the adjustment thereof.

Let us recap the different types of body constitution below.

  • Type A Pinghe (Normal, Typical, Neutral, Balanced Type)
  • Type B Qixu (Energy-deficient Type)
  • Type C Yangxu (Yang-deficient Type)
  • Type D Yinxu (Yin-deficient Type)
  • Type E Tanshi (Phlegm-moisture Type)
  • Type F Shire (Moisture-heat Type)
  • Type G Xueyu (Blood-stasis Type)
  • Type H Qiyu (Energy-depressed Type)
  • Type I Tebing (Special-intrinsic Type)

Well, these nine body constitution all have different characteristics, manifestations, and specific disease tendencies. However, we have different techniques to adjust our body so that it will return to its perfectly healthy state.

Here we will share our knowledge. We hope everyone can sit down and take decisive measures as soon as possible to attain perfect health. This way you will rejuvenate your body to that of an eighteen-year-old again.

Let us discuss the different body constitution one by one. Let us continue with the Type E Phlegm-moisture Body Constitution.

Characteristics of Type E Phlegm-moisture Body Constitution

The biggest characteristics of a person with this body constitution are:

01 His reflection is often slow

02 His thinking is often slow

03 His movements are slow

04 His tongue coating is thick.

A person with all the above characteristics is a person with a type E phlegm-moisture body constitution.

A person with a phlegm-moisture body constitution is also particularly prone to obesity, leading to metabolic disorders and metabolic syndrome. He is prone to have high blood lipids, high blood pressure, and high blood sugar.

Generally speaking, Hyperlipidemia comes first, followed by high blood pressure, and high blood sugar. Of course, many middle-aged and elderly people have only one unsatisfactory condition out of the three.

The three unsatisfactory conditions are sister conditions, and they are generally induced by lifestyles that promote such conditions.

However, genes also play a decisive role, so the three conditions are easy to occur, familial prevalence is common, and intergenerational inheritance is also prone to occur.

Adjusting Type E Phlegm-moisture Body Constitution

As for the phlegm-moisture body constitution, the key is the transportation and transformation of excessive moisture inside the body.

The primary adjusting method for this type of body constitution is the Mustang Dietary Technique.

First, we eat slowly to give our digestive system time to do its work of transporting and transforming the nutrients of our foods.

Second, we should stop eating when we are 70% full for the same reasons. This we must do for every meal.

Third, we must sweat frequently. This is a fast way to get rid of excess moisture from inside our body. We may sweat by any means that is acceptable to us.

Mustang 8-brocade rejuvenates your body Part Seven

The Mustang Shenzhan Technique is a series of stretching exercises for the maintenance and repair of our physical body. The Mustang 8-brocade Technique is just one of a suite of modalities of the Mustang Shenzhan Technique. It is a basic technique which is easy to learn and practice.

As practitioners of life cultivation, we engage in the Mustang 8-brocade Technique to juvenate our body. When we practice the technique on a daily basis, we will enhance our physical fitness and prevent illness. We will look and feel younger.

The Mustang 8-brocade Technique consists of eight styles or movements. In order to learn this technique properly, you start with the first movement. You memorize the instructions outlined here and then you visualize the movements and associated breathing method in your mind until you have it firmly in your mind.

While you are practicing, you do not refer to the instructions, or the pictures, or the video. You have to practice it from memory. You start to practice the movements and breathing, visualizing the movements in your mind. You focus on the movements by the eyes-nose-mind technique that you have learned before.

We have seen a housewife cooking a new recipe by watching a video on her mobile phone set on the kitchen counter top while she does her cooking. We are simply amazed by her actions. Do not imitate this housewife while you learn any Mustang Shenzhen Technique.

This Mustang 8-brocade Technique is suitable for people of all ages. It is best to practice outdoors in the morning before breakfast. If you sweat after the exercise, take a shower, or swipe off the sweat with a towel before breakfast. Do not let your skin absorb the sweat back into your body again.

We group all eight movements here for convenience. When you learn and practice, learn and practice one by one. Learn one until you are well versed with it, and then go on to the next. Try to learn one movement a week. Do not try to learn and practice more than one or all at once.

As practitioners of life cultivation, most of us take the Mustang 8-brocade Technique as the cornerstone of our fitness program to restore us to a younger self.

Here is the seventh movement of the Mustang 8-brocade Technique. Enjoy.

07 Angry sighting with fists

01 Movement

01 Stand upright. Spread your feet shoulder wide.

02 Bend your knees into a horse-riding style stance. Remember this stance because many of our shenzhan movements use this stance.

03 Clench your hands into fists and place them at the waist with the knuckle side down.

04 Hit your left fist out slowly with a twisting motion forward until your left arm is straight, fist knuckle side up, and your eyes are wide and stared forward as if you are very angry.

05 Then you retract your left fist, and hit forward with the right fist at the same time. You hit with your right fist the same way as before.

06 You hit forward alternating between left and right fist for as many times as you can. A beginner should start with fifteen times.

07 If you practice deep breathing at the same time, you should exhale when you punch, and inhale when you retract. Some people will emit a sound when they exhale and punch.

01 Stand loosely as in the previous movement.

02 Breathing in, the left foot crosses out into a horse stance, hands to the waist and half clenched fists, the heart of the fist is upward, the two fists are about three fists apart, and the two hands embrace like a half-moon, intending to guard the Dantian or Mingmen acupoint.

03 With the exhalation, hit the left fist forward to the left, turn slightly to the left along the momentum, pass the left fist to stare at the tiger, look into the distance, and pull the right fist backward at the same time, so that the left and right arms compete for strength. Pause for a moment.

The two fists are returned to their original positions at the same time, the virtual fist is released, the arc is drawn upwards and slowly descends on both sides, and the left foot is retracted to return to the standing position. Alternate left and right 6 to 8 times.

03 Operation Tips

Shrugging shoulders, slumping waist, closing eyes and other phenomena are easy to occur when doing this movement. The corrective method is to loosen the waist and sink the hips, sink the shoulders and drop the elbows, sink the energy into the dantian, straighten the spine, and widen the angry eyes.

This movement mainly moves the limbs, waist and eye muscles, which can enhance the lung energy, increase muscle strength, and has the power of strengthening tendons and bones.

04 Benefits

It will stimulate your energy circulation system, strengthen your blood supply and strengthen your muscles.

Keys to Jingzuo and Ruding Practice Part Two

This is part two on Keys to jingzuo and ruding practice. You must read part one in order to go into the ruding practice. Otherwise, you are doing something wrong to yourself. Something bad may happen to you.

03 Ruding Practice

If you want to practice the ruding technique, your breath must be balanced, and your vital-energy flow must be free, so that your body is saturated with vital-energy. With saturated vital-energy, there is no room for free energy flow, thus you are ready to enter the ruding state. Therefore, before entering the ruding state, you must have a very strong body and an excellent physique, otherwise, you cannot enter into the ruding state.

What we usually call the ruding state is, strictly speaking, some moments of tranquility, not the real ruding state. The real ruding state is that the individual disappears and merges into the whole universe, and then comes out of the whole universe. At this point, the individual carries all the codes and energy of the whole universe.

When you achieve the disappearance into the whole universe and also to live in the whole universe, then you have achieved the ruding state. When you come out after your stay, it is called exiting the ruding state. As soon as you enter, stay, and exit, your whole being will be reborn. After you come out from the ruding state, the codes radiated from your body are the same codes of information from heaven, and it is also the codes of the whole universe.

Therefore, you must first learn how to enter into the ruding state and then stay there.

After entering into the ruding state, some people are unable to stay in the ruding state and immediately come out. This will defeat the purpose of practicing the ruding technique.

Say you are going to charge your phone. You plug in your phone at the power supply, and then you immediately unplug it from the power source. Then your phone is not charged at all, right?

If you really want to charge your phone, you should charge your phone for one to eight hours after connecting to the power supply. You wait until your battery is charged to full capacity and then unplug it from the power supply. At this time, the power in your battery and the power at the power source are the same.

Thus, you should practice your ruding technique the same way. Once you go into ruding state, you should stay there.

The process of the ruding practice is divided into stages and levels, such as the first, second, third, and fourth meditation level (Jhana) in Zen Buddhism.

When entering the first jhana, all thoughts must be brought together into one thought, that is to say, there are no distracting thoughts, but only one thought. This thought rests in the present moment, when the body is relaxed and the body and mind are in harmony, which is called the first jhāna. The first jhana is most afraid of when people suddenly call you or push you. If the person next to you does not understand when you are meditating, they may call you or push you. Of course, when we meditate, we usually tell the people around us, don’t disturb me when I want to meditate, and if there is anything, we will deal with it after the meditation.

Before entering the ruding state, the pain and numbness of our body should be gone. Our body and mind have formed a whole energy, and our body is no longer fragmented. Just like a balloon, the whole now is full of vital energy, so that we can stay in the present moment and reach the first jhāna.

After we have lived through the first jhāna for a period of time, there will be a qualitative change inside and outside of our body and mind, just like a flower blooming, and it will continue to bloom. When a bud is formed at the beginning, it is equivalent to the first jhana, and when it reaches the second jhana, it begins to open up, and there is such an opening in the mind. If there is no one around to interfere, the process of blooming will continue to open.

When entering the second jhana, there will be obvious changes in our body, and our breathing will become weaker and weaker (breathing means that energy will be leaked, and it is also releasing energy). When we really enter the second jhana, there is no breathing.

Why not? Because our energies will be like outstretched hands and feet, all integrated with the universe. That is to say, our hand of the mind has reached out to the horizon, to the source of energy. At this time, as the hand of the mind is stretched out, a blooming power will arise within, and the inner flower will keep blooming.

When the second jhāna has passed, it means that the inner flowers are all opened, the hands are all stretched out, and the breathing stops.

If we keep going, the pulse on our wrist will stop. When this pulse is not beating, it means that all the energy of the self is released, the energy of the outside is all in, the inside and outside are integrated, not fragmented, and will not be fragmented. There is no relationship between you and me, and no relationship between energy and mine. There is no relationship between heaven and earth and me. At this time, there is no duality, only One.

When we enter the third jhana, we become One. The whole becomes One with the information of the universe. At this time, we are the message of heaven and earth, and the message of heaven and earth is us.

If we integrate quickly at this time, then we can settle quickly, and we do not need to live in the third jhana for a long time. Some people continue to live in the third jhana as the information is not integrated and they cannot come out. There is no state of “I am the information, and the information is me”. When he has finished merging the information and the message “I am the information and the information is me” appears, he will continue to move forward and enter the fourth jhana.

During the fourth jhana, not only the pulses are gone, but also the reactions at the physical and psychological levels are all gone, which means that there are no feelings, thoughts, actions, and consciousness. At this time, we can understand it as having surpassed the five, six, seven, and eight consciousnesses.

In the process of opening, in the midst of ruding practice, a picture will appear. After the opening, it will be closed, one opening and one closing, one opening and one closing, and so on. For some, there are many. For some, there are few. Everyone’s karma is different, but it must go through this opening and closing process.

Why have an opening? Opening is the process of integrating the individual into the whole. And why should it fit together? Only a synthetic whole can be divided into countless individuals at any time. The individual will become a large whole at any time, and the large whole will be split into countless small individuals at any time.

The whole process of formation and cultivation of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas is like this. During the process of entering the jhana, the information of the individual is released instinctively, and the information of the whole comes naturally. Just like opening a door, the air outside naturally comes in.

In fact, the Way is all around us and exists all the time. As soon as we open our body and mind, it will come in. After it comes in, it will form an internal and an external one.

Keys to Jingzuo and Ruding practice Part One

01 Prerequisites for Jingzuo practice

As practitioners of life cultivation, most of us practice the tuna technique (deep breathing) and the jingzuo technique (sitting meditation) in one form or other to improve our body and mind.

However, for beginners of life cultivation, they should understand that the jingzuo technique has some prerequisites for practice.

First of all, we should not practice the jingzuo technique unless we have a solid foundation of life skills, and our mind has become clear. Then and only then we start to practice the jingzuo technique in order to quietly filter and precipitate our mind, restore our spiritual sense, and unlock our wisdom.

If we blindly practice the jingzuo technique, we may suffer from harmful effects as follows.

First, if we do not have a solid foundation in life cultivation, our vital-energy is insufficient and our meridians are usually blocked. If we practice the jingzuo technique at this point, we will feel drowsy and the practice will be ineffective. It will be a waste of time and effort.

Second, our blood vessel wall is fragile and our blood is thick. If we practice the jingzuo technique at this point, our blood will pool on the top of our head, leading to the formation of blood clots or the breaking of blood vessels. This is dangerous. Many people have suffered from this kind of accident.

Third, the beginning practitioners do not have a qualified master to guide him. The beginner starts to practice and it is easy for him to be confused. His mind may become delusional. In some cases, his body feels abnormally sore, numb and itchy, or he may see hallucinations when he closes his eyes. He may see lights around him, then he may imagine that he has seen the outer world, or the universe of the immortal Buddha.

If he is unlucky to have an unethical coach, he may be slightly misled and bewitched by the myth enforced by the coach into believing it. These kinds of mentally ill people are all over the Internet now. Some of them are actively trying to confuse other people, especially young people, labeling themselves as masters on the Internet.

Fourth, the practice of the jingzuo technique is progressive and sequential in terms of age and the stage of practice. If a child or a young person were to practice the jingzuo technique right away, they are like a tree without roots and water without a source. They will easily fall into a dried-Zen state in which his mind is like an extinguished ash and his spirituality totally broken.

02 Preparation for jingzuo practice

One. Choose a good location

It is best to find another quiet room in your home for meditation. If conditions do not permit it, you may use your bedroom. The windows and doors should be opened to allow the air to circulate inside the room, but do not sit anywhere with wind blowing.

Two. Be relax

Before sitting, loosen your belt so that the muscles are not restrained and breathing is smooth.

Three. Choose the right position

Practice in a sitting position. If you practice in the sleeping posture, you may feel drowsy.

Four. Choose the right sitting posture

When sitting, you may sit on the floor or on the bed or on a special chair. When you sit on the floor, you may use a futon or a yoga mat, but the floor should be flat. When you sit on the bed, your bed should be firm. When you use a meditation chair, follow the directions. You may use a cushion or a quilt on the seat if you plan to sit for a long time.

The common sitting postures can be divided into chair type, natural type, single cross-legged type, and double cross-legged type. Generally, it is best to use the double cross-legged posture. If you find it hard to adapt to the double cross-legged posture, then you may choose any other posture depending on your body condition. You may gradually change to the double cross-legged posture once you have improved your body condition.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when sitting cross-legged:

01) The back half of the buttocks is required to be raised higher, and a cotton pad or a thinner pillow may be used for this purpose. In this way, the waist will be straightened naturally, avoiding the disadvantages of slowly bending the back due to the fatigue of the psoas muscles during the practice.

02) The waist should be straightened naturally. If the waist is not straight, two important meridians may be blocked leading to drowsiness.

03) When seated, the head and the neck should be straight, and the lower jaw should be slightly retracted with the tongue touching the upper palate.

04) Because of daily habits, when seated, most people tend to turn their heads to one side, left or right, although they often feel that their heads are upright when practicing.

To correct the posture, when seated, put a mirror in front of you to see if your head and neck are straight, and correct them accordingly. If you have someone with you, you may ask him to help you in correcting your posture. Once you find the state of straight head and neck, then you should have the correct feeling of straight head and neck. This will automatically correct any imbalanced vital-energy flow in your body.

Release your Self-healing Power Part Two

As practitioners of Life Cultivation, we strive to live our life until we die at an old-age without medication and illness. Therefore, we learn and practice self-healing power while we can. We learn about a story recorded by a physician.

03 Two minutes of Meditation

If there is a pill that is all natural and free, and we just have to take one a day to reduce anxiety and make life more satisfying, will we take it?

There really is such a pill in the world. It is called meditation.

Many religions understand the power of meditation, and each has a different approach, but they all have one thing in common. It will consciously empty our mind and focus.

Meditation has gone from reducing stress to preventing and delaying heart disease, high blood pressure, migraines, and even cancer.

Benson, a cardiologist at Harvard Medical School, trained patients to meditate for twenty minutes a day. The patient’s blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen consumption were seventeen percent lower than usual.

To practice meditation, all you need is a chair and sit quietly. It sounds very simple. However, many people who have tried it failed at the beginning because they cannot change the habit of wandering at will.

Veda Bharati, chairman of Rishikeshrama Retreat Center in India, proposed a two-minute meditation method. Before waiting for the bus, before meals, or before a meeting, you can stand or sit, straighten your back and neck, breathe through your diaphragm, and breathe in and out from your nostrils. Just take back the distracted mind and put everything down.

04 Beware of negative emotions

As practitioners of Life Cultivation, we are forever aware of our negative emotions and we try hard not to be angry for ninety seconds.

Lai Peixia said: “Anger has nothing to do with other people. There is a button inside you, so you can do whatever you want.”

Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor, who suffered a left-brain stroke, took great pains to recover from her stroke. She consciously chose not to revive certain old circuits in order to immediately return to a calm right-brain.

Because of her understanding of the brain nerves, she knows that as long as anger is triggered, certain chemical substances released in the brain will surge through the whole body, but the chemical components will disappear from the blood in ninety seconds. If she remains angry after ninety seconds, she has chosen to keep the circuit going. Otherwise, she would have let the anger run its course, and then she would go back to the present moment. She treats negative emotions like sneezing, facing her inner fire with awareness and compassion.

05 Rebuild the sense of health

The five senses of sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste are important devices for human survival. In ancient times, human beings used the breath of the enemy to detect danger. But now human beings seem to have lost the functions of the five senses.

Neuroanatomist Jill found it useful to linger in the basic physiological responses of sensory circuits after her left-brain stroke. She feels pleasure in tasting food, eating, drinking, and enjoying them all at the moment.

We can help ourselves to find a way back to our right brain. Trusting our brains to replace unwanted thought patterns helps us experience inner peace in the present moment.

In fact, we have such an experience daily. When our body is tired, it will cry for help. When our heart is sick, a certain part of the brain will also have bad feelings. We should believe in the five senses and listen to the voice from the body. Then we will discover that we do have a sense of health which is the basis for the self-healing ability of the body and mind.

Experiencing illness and the pain of life may not be a choice for us, but not being kidnapped by the suffering of life and being gentle with ourselves is what we can do.
—–Wu Xixuan

Release your Self-healing Power Part One

As practitioners of Life Cultivation, we strive to live our life until we die at an old-age without medication and illness. Therefore, we learn and practice self-healing power while we can. We learn about a story recorded by a physician.

01 The Life Story

A 45-year-old wealthy clothier has always been in good health, with only diabetes under stable treatment.

One day, he felt a little short of breath and a little weak. He went to a medical center for a checkup. He was surprised to find that he had anemia, and was referred to the Department of Hematology and Oncology for treatment. He was hospitalized.

After more examination, he was found to have bone marrow dysplasia, and it turned into acute blood cancer six months later.

Later, due to myocardial hypoxia, he was referred to the Cardiology Department for balloon dilation and was admitted to the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. He was alone in the intensive care unit, and began to look wild, babble, and twitch his hands and feet.

When Dr. Zhang Mingzhi was taking rounds checking into his patients, the clothier grabbed Dr. Zhang Mingzhi’s hand and said, “I’m so scared.”

Zhang Mingzhi replied, “It is your own heart that is afraid, and it is only when you have attachments that you are afraid in your heart. ” and led him to pray.

When the condition of the clothier improved, he began to practice Buddhist meditation, and his whole personality changed as if he was reborn.

Two years later, his blood cancer recurred, and he did not complain. He knew that blood cancer cells could not be killed and could easily recur.

He was later hospitalized for chills and fever, but he couldn’t find the reason. Dr. Zhang told him to do more spiritual homework after he was discharged from the hospital and put aside his worldly troubles. When he came back to the clinic for follow-up, he was radiant and his blood test was normal.

“This cannot be explained by science, but people with healthy minds will recover from physical pains faster.”

Zhang Mingzhi, a hematologist-oncologist at Mackay Hospital, later recorded the story in 18 Lessons in the Mind Ward.

02 Power of the Mind

When a major disease strikes, we inevitably fall into the dark abyss of fear, obsessively wondering “Why am I sick?” “What will happen in the future?” “I’m afraid,” “Will I die?”

Dr. Zhang Mingzhi who performed the drama of life and death in the cancer ward, also saw many patients use the power of their minds. Even if they fell ill and died later, the power of their minds enabled them to see a ray of light on the road that was gradually shrouded in darkness. Peace of mind, no worries.

Of course, we do not practice meditation only when we are sick. Many experts have scientifically confirmed that meditation can change the frequency of brain waves. As long as the brain waves slow down, our thoughts will be clear and our emotions will be stable.

It can also change the structure of the cerebral cortex. Our creativity will be inspired and our efficiency of work and study will be improved. Meditation before going to bed can also help us to sleep more peacefully, and we will not have a bunch of thoughts lingering in our head.

We should practice spirituality, not necessarily a specific religion, on a daily basis when we are not sick. We should learn to think more inwardly, learn more ways to stabilize our emotions, and make ourselves healthier physically and mentally.

Scientists have long confirmed that stress, anxiety, and depression are harmful to health. Reducing the stress hormone cortisone can increase immune globulin and activate the immune system.

Happiness can prolong the life of heart disease patients, reduce the chance of stroke, ease allergic reactions, and enhance resistance to colds.

“Don’t cry on sunny days,” Dr. Zhang Mingzhi said.

Improving mental health is like getting a map to Disneyland. More and more people are sharing the ways to nourish the soul, from the well-known meditation to the “waiting for 90 seconds not to get angry” verified by neurologists.

Deep Breathing Drives Away Fatigue Part Three

As practitioners of life cultivation, we learn and practice deep breathing, or the tuna technique. In practicing the tuna technique, we learn the proper way to do deep breathing.

Now deep breathing involves the exhale and inhale of air, and the circulation of air and vital-energy between breaths, which is called Qi. In our practice, we classify the combined air and vital-energy into three forms, namely the superficial-energy, the nutrient-energy, and the true-energy.

In our practice of the tuna technique, we actually learn how to control the three forms of energy to benefit our physical health and our mental state.

We learn the tuna technique in stages. The first stage will involve superficial-energy. The second stage will involve nutrient-energy. The third stage will involve true-energy. Now we will go into the practice of each stage and see how it will benefit us in the long run.

As we have mentioned before, the proper way to learn and practice a technique is to do it this way.

  1. Read the instructions, understand them, memorize them.
  2. Visualize the instructions in your mind. If you have forgotten them, go back to read the instructions again.
  3. Visualize the instructions into video clips.
  4. Run the video clips over your mind until you are very familiar with them.
  5. Now you have learned and you can start to practice. You practice from the eyes in your mind, not your physical eyes.

Stage Three. True-energy Practice

As practitioners of the tuna technique, we know that the subject matter of true-energy has been debated for years without a conclusion. The way we look at it, it depends on how we interpret the Chinese words zhen-qi. Here we present what we consider to be an academic definition of true-energy, because we have never known anyone who has mastered the practice of true-energy technique, although many people claim to teach the true method of practice.

At the advanced stage of practicing the tuna technique, we rely on the concept of the ruding practice. When we reach the advanced stage of the practice of the tuna technique, the vital-energy will rise to our head and go into heaven, and true-energy is hereby generated. This true-energy has other names such as the True Yuan-qi, or the Xiantian Yi-qi in Taoism. We do not have to know these terms. They merely try to explain the nature of this vital-energy being the true and natural energy.

As practitioners of the tuna technique, all we want to know is whether we can practice true-energy like superficial-energy, and if so, how we can practice it. Unfortunately, we cannot practice to improve our true-energy. As soon as we think about it, the true-energy will start to disappear.

Now, if true-energy cannot be practiced, can we adjust it like we adjust nutrient-energy? The answer is surprising. It doesn’t matter whether the true-energy is in tune or not, because true-energy does not circulate in our body, but refers to the function of the noumenon that creates all things in the universe.

To be able to unify and control the heavens is of course innate and a single energy that precedes the creation of heavens. To be able to begin with the beginning of all things, produce them in shape, and create all things is of course incessant birth. Thus true-energy refers to the kinetic energy of the body’s creation and is the beginning of everything.

Philosophically, true-energy is naturally the nameless in the beginning of the heaven and earth creation without a name, and the mother of all things with a name. The ancients reluctantly called it The One. However, this One is not the Way.

That is to say, it is not the noumenon of the universe itself, but the function of The Way, the function of the noumenon. Therefore, we may say that The Way gives birth to One, One gives rise to Two, Two gives rise to Three, and Three gives rise to all things.

Thus, as practitioners of the tuna technique, at this stage we try to attain The Way instead of trying to adjust the true-energy. Once we reach this goal, we will be able to take advantage of the righteousness of heaven and earth and control all forms of vital-energy so that we can travel endlessly and freely in this universe.

We like the end result, but the trouble is, we cannot practice or train ourselves to attain it. We also cannot tune ourselves to attain it. Then, how can we reach this stage?

It turns out that we cannot find true-energy. We can only wait for it to visit us. We will diligently practice the tuna technique, the jingzuo technique, and the ruding technique. We will enter into true concentration in our practice without thinking about it. When it is time, true-energy will appear and flush through our head and flood into heaven. When we perceive it for an instant, it will disappear because we have used our conscious mind again.

Then, if we are still in meditation, it will return to the center, and the place where it returns is called the One Orifice of the Profound Entrance, or simply The Hole. If we maintain concentration, it will nurture in The Hole. Then we will use our spiritual will (not our mind, but the will of the gods) to further nurture it. Eventually and hopefully an elixir will be formed.

However, this is only the entry-level skill of the practice. Why? Because it is only the understanding and application of the One, not the Way. It is only the function of the noumenon, not the noumenon itself.

Therefore, just for the sake of representing true-energy, we need to stop and do away with delusional thoughts and not have a single thought, not to mention those things like me, you, love, and hate.

“The best man has no self, the gods and men have no merit, and the sages have no name.”—–Zhuangzi

Most of the practitioners of life cultivation like us do practice the tuna technique (deep breathing) and the jingzuo technique (meditation) daily. Very few of us try to practice the ruding technique and the vital-energy technique because they are hard to learn and practice.

Deep Breathing Drives Away Fatigue Part Two

  5. Now you have learned and you can start to practice. You practice from the eyes in your mind, not your physical eyes.

Stage Two. Nutrient-energy Practice

As we go into the second stage of practicing deep breathing, we will try to improve our nutrient-energy. It is derived from nutrients, and that is why it is called nutrient-energy.

Nutrient-energy is also known as life-energy or birth-energy or prosperous-energy. It is so-named because it is partly derived from birth or the beginning of our life.

Nutrient-energy is stored in our spinal cavity and travels through the vital-energy paths (meridians) and blood vessels, so it is also responsible for distributing nutrients throughout our body and it can moisten our internal organs.

Nutrient-energy circulates in the vital-energy paths of the human body about fifty-two cycles within a twenty-four hour period. It is not something we can guide and direct with our minds. If someone tells us that he can open up our vital-energy paths and direct our nutrient-energy to go wherever he wants, we usually ignore him.

Nutrient-energy naturally circulates in the vital-energy paths and does not follow our wishes. Therefore, nutrient-energy cannot be practiced, but can only be adjusted or tuned up.

How do we adjust it? There are several ways to adjust our nutrient-energy. The most obvious way is to increase or decrease the nutrients that we take in with our foods and drinks.

Nutrient-energy is directly provided by the nutrients so if we adjust the nutrients that we take in, it will adjust our nutrient-energy. To learn more about it, refer to the Mustang Dietary Technique that we have discussed elsewhere. There are other less obvious ways as follows.

First, hold up your hands as if you are holding water, then pour the imaginary air onto the top of your head. This motion will supposedly smooth the flow of nutrient-energy along the vital-energy paths.

Second, practice the Mustang Shenzhan Technique that we have discussed elsewhere. Many of the techniques will help to adjust our nutrient-energy flows.

Third, when you detect the onset of a cold, you may practice the Mustang Jingzuo Technique (a form of meditation), or the Mustang Tuina Technique (a form of massage), or the use of acupuncture. All these techniques will help to smooth the flow of nutrient-energy in the large intestine vital-energy path and the lung vital-energy path which will help you to prevent a cold or to recover from a cold.

Modern medicine has been able to detect whether the electric field of the human body is balanced by measuring the electricity of specific points on the vital-energy paths, so as to diagnose whether a person is healthy or not. It indirectly proves that nutrient-energy can be adjusted but not practiced.

To be continued.

  5. Now you have learned and you can start to practice. You practice from the eyes in your mind, not your physical eyes.

Stage One. Superficial-energy Practice

As beginners of life cultivation, we will practice the control of superficial-energy. What is superficial-energy?

In herbal medicine, it is also called the floating yang-energy because its nature is yang and it is floating around. It is also called the mind-energy because we can control it with our mind. It is also called the wei-energy, as in protection because it is our protective level of energy. Now we will learn to control the superficial-energy since we can control it with our mind.

Why is it called superficial-energy? Because it travels through the epidermis of the human body. It can be expressed outside the human body surface, and the scientific community also calls it the human body glow.

Since superficial-energy can be expressed through the human skin as light, so we ask, how many kinds of light are there? According to some studies, there are more than sixty kinds of light. A killer will carry a light, and an angry person will also carry a light, but the lights are of different colors.

This kind of superficial-energy is semi-innate, partly derived from the nutrients in our foods, partly inherited from our parents, and it is also the source of energy used in physical labor work. This is the kind of vital-energy that we can practice now.

For example, if you are engaged in arm-wrestling, you will prepare for it by bringing your energy to your arm, so that your arm will be strengthened and stiff like a rod, instead of flappy. You can also increase your superficial-energy level by engaging in weight lifting, or hitting the sandbag. You may also do it by practicing many forms of martial arts.

The superficial-energy does not follow the human blood vessels and tissue fluids. Instead, it flows in the dermis layer of the skin. It also flows in the muscles, then it becomes the source of energy when we perform physical labor work.

Superficial-energy has a major feature, that is, it can be directed by human thoughts, and can be intentional. At the beginning, our intention can only be the intention of our conscious mind, as opposed to our spiritual will. Thus, in the beginning of our practice, it is a form of a defensive-energy, or protective-energy.

Now let us go into the practice itself.

01 Relax your body, and further relax your body, to the limit of emptiness, calmness and steadfastness.

02 Imagine that your body is growing bigger, little by little, without forcing it. Your head, chest, waist, and limbs are getting longer, and your shoulders and body are getting wider. Your body rises like a piece of bread dole with space inside, so that you can feel that your inner energy is flowing inside. It gradually tightens on its own with your muscles like one. You are like a whole rubber man now. When you loosen it tightens, and superficial-energy is now flowing inside. You do not try to forget. You do not try to help.

03 When you feel that the superficial-energy fails to flow, you give it a little help such as shaking, turning, and swinging the appropriate body parts. When you are doing this, you should hold your breath, and the whole body will be ventilated. You will feel very comfortable, and fatigue is relieved.

04 Thus the superficial-energy is an essence-energy, a kidney-energy, a nutrient-energy, a defense-energy, and a semi innate-energy. It is a form of vital-energy that you can manipulate with your mind. Have fun with your practice.
