As practitioners of life cultivation, we like to eat foods in the form of soup or stew. Foods in these forms are easy to digest and absorb and that is good for older people like us.

We hereby offer some soup or stew that are easy to make and offer certain benefits to maintain our body health. We classify them into soup that is beneficial to our blood, soup that is beneficial to our stomach, soup that is beneficial to our kidneys, soup that is beneficial to our lungs, and soup that will calm our mind.

These soups tend to help to moisturize our body and skin. Thus it is especially beneficial for us to eat in Autumn and Winter when the air is dry.

05 Soup Calming of the Mind

Pork knuckle with peanut soup

A soup made with one pig knuckle, 100 grams of peanuts, 20 pieces of dried mushrooms, salt and MSG. Cook for sixty minutes. Reputed to nourish the yin-energy, reduce dryness and calm the mind nerves.

Lamb heart with red dates stew

A stew made with one goat heart, 10 red dates, ginger, onion, salt and MSG. Cook for sixty minutes. Reputed to nourish the heart and vital-energy.

Fish head with gastrodia stew

A stew made of two flat fish heads, 25 grams of gastrodia elata, 25 grams of poria, 15 grams of chuangong, 12 pieces of red dates, ginger, salt and MSG. Cook for sixty minutes. Reputed to clear the meridian and activate the blood flow, nourish the brain and calms the mind.

Pork lung with dried vegetables stew

The stew is made of one pig lung, 150 grams of lean pork, 50 grams of dried bok-choy, 25 grams of fungus, 6 pieces of honey-dates, 25 grams of almond, ginger, salt and MSG. Cook for sixty minutes. Reputed to nourish the yin-energy, relieve irritability and quench thirst.

Chicken feet with radish stew

The stew is made of 450 grams of chicken feet, 50 grams of dried scallops, 250 grams of chicken meat, 1000 grams of white radish, 50 grams of daylily, salt and MSG. Cook for one hundred twenty minutes. Reputed to gently fortify vital-energy, nourish the yin-energy and reduce dryness.
