As practitioners of life cultivation, many of us have this particular experience. As soon as we get to work, we feel sleepy. We try to make up for it with more sleep, we still feel sluggish.
Why?
We are inexplicably sleepy from nine to eleven every morning. There is no insomnia at night. There is no staying up late to catch up on writing our blogs. There is no trouble with falling marbles from the ceiling.
But inexplicably we are sleepy. It is very unscientific. It is highly illogical. We must understand the mystery and seek a way to tame it.
Step one: analyze the cause
Li Dongyuan said in The Spleen and Stomach Theory
All diseases are born from the failure of the spleen and stomach.
The spleen is active from nine to eleven in the morning. In The Theory of Five Elements, the spleen belongs to the element earth. It is like the earth to the human body. The direct effect of the spleen on the human body is to generate energy and blood and distribute them throughout the human body. In short, a deficient spleen will show a lack of energy and blood, like the earth is not fertile enough to provide enough nourishment for plant growth.
Thus, a deficient spleen may show the following symptoms: poor appetite, fatigue, inexplicable sleepiness in the morning, irregular menstruation, sore throat, and so on.
Step two: verify the cause

Refer to the diagram. Look at the colored part. The solid line from the foot to the knee and beyond is the spleen meridian. The third dot from the top is the diji accupoint and the fifth dot is the sanyinjiao acupoint. The seventh dot is the gongsun acupoint and the eighth dot is the taibai acupoint.
Similarly, if you look at the white leg in the middle of the diagram, the second dot is the diji acupoint and the fourth dot is the sanyinjiao acupoint.
As practitioners of life cultivation, most of us do not bother to remember the names and exact positions of the acupoints. We just have vague ideas of their approximate positions.
To check to see whether we have a deficient spleen, we bend slightly. We glide our thumb or fingers along the anterior border of the tibia from our knee to our foot. Tap from top to bottom to the inner ankle from the knee joint. Comb three to five times. We mainly explore the inner side of the calf.
We then try to locate the diji acupoint on top. Do we feel pain? We then try to locate the sanyinjiao acupoint on the bottom. Do we feel a little sore?
If you are like us and feel the pain in the acupoints and a little sore at the sanyinjiao acupoint, then it is really possible that the spleen is deficient, and the energy and blood are deficient.
It is the spleen meridian that reminds you at this time to take the initiative to set up the rhythm of resting in the morning.
Once again, when exploring the spleen meridian, if you find that the pain points of the spleen meridian are painful, then you are likely to have a deficient spleen.
Does the procedure remind you how your auto mechanic is trying to fix your old car?
Step three: rescue ourselves
Knock. Knead. Knock. Knock. Knock. Knead. Knead. Knead.
First the diji acupoint, then the sanyinjiao acupoint. Next, it is the turn of taibai acupoint and gongsun acupoint. Massage along the inner side of the calf to the end of the foot.
We rub whichever hurts, and rub it if it doesn’t hurt.
It is reputed that the taibai acupoint can also regulate blood sugar in both directions.
It is reputed that the gongsun acupoint can also regulate intestinal function in both directions.
Where can we find such a cost-effective way to recuperate?
You see that the spleen meridian is deep within the calf muscle, so you have to apply force when you massage for it to be effective.
Do it from nine to eleven in the morning for it to be more effective.
When you feel pain at the acupoints, massage more frequently and forcefully.
Step four: be persistent
Be persistent on your massage of the spleen meridian.
Good things must be adhered to. Once the meridians are dredged, you will be as energetic as a tiger.
You have a scientific mind. You want to know how persistent you should be. Well, until you do not feel sleepy from nine to eleven in the morning.
