11 Diseases originate from improper dwelling
The place of residence also has an influence on our health. How it will influence our health is a study called feng shui (wind and water). As practitioners of life cultivation, very few of us will study feng shui to stay healthy, so we will skip the discussion of feng shui here. Instead, we will discuss something close to it.
Some people think that the study of feng shui is a superstition, but we do think that feng shui has its own merit. However, many people try to make money in the name of feng shui, so it is very hard to discuss the subject matter now.
The study of feng shui is very old, perhaps it is as old as herbal medicine, about two thousand years ago. They use the same jargon in many respects. They talk about yin and yang. They talk about the five elements. If we dismiss such talks, we will discover that it is similar to architectural design consideration.
In traditional feng shui, it will consider the seat of the house, whether it is facing the south or the east or the north, and so on. It will consider how the movement of the sun will affect the house. It will consider how the wind will shift in the four seasons and how the wind will affect the house. Remember, it is a time without air conditioning and furnace, and the cooling and heating are all natural.
In the broad sense, if we consider the natural elements, we will see that the seat of the dwelling will affect the environmental elements, and thus our health.
What is the most important function of a dwelling? Why do we need a house in the first place?
We need a house for us to avoid sleeping in the open air. The most important function of a dwelling is for us to sleep securely. Sleep is a very important function for our health.
Sleep is very important. Sleep is actually a process of replenishing our yang-energy. The yang-energy is the lifeblood of human beings and needs to be replenished everyday.
Everyday, we keep on using the yang-energy to function. There are many ways for us to dissipate the yang-energy. For example, when I am writing this article, I consume the yang-energy. When you are reading our article, you are consuming the yang-energy too. All thinking is a consumption of the yang-energy. Every gesture is a consumption of the yang-energy.
There are many ways to consume the yang-energy, but there are only a few ways to replenish the yang-energy. Therefore, how do we supplement our yang-energy?
We depend largely on sleep to replenish the yang-energy. Sleep is almost the only way to raise the yang-energy. It is the only way to support life. When a person cannot sleep well for months and months, and years and years, he will be very painful. He will definitely want to kill himself to escape sleeplessness.
A dwelling that we can sleep peacefully in is very important to us. If you cannot sleep because of your house, then move.
Move to a dwelling that is healthy for you to sleep in.
