Health of our Liver

马晓山

As practitioners of life cultivation, we use the inner vision technique to feel our inner organs to find out if they are abnormal physiologically or functionally.

Once we find the organ that is going bad, we can then try to return it to normal operation as soon as possible, using the various Mustang Cultivation Techniques. This will help us to maintain the health of our body without resorting to medication or surgical operation in later days.

In a previous article, we have briefly discussed each of the important organs as a learning reference. Now we will discuss in depth how we apply the inner vision technique to find out what is wrong with each of our organs.

02 The Liver

The liver is located in the upper abdomen, below the diaphragm.

Its main physiological functions are to disperse and store blood. The liver is related to the eyes, in harmony with the tendons and ligaments, and shows its health in the fingers and toes

The liver is connected to the bile. They are life mirror images of each other.

The energy path of the liver starts from the sides of the chest, and goes through the abdomen and reproductive organ. Thus, if we detect problems within this area, we first look to the liver to find out the cause of the symptoms.

01 Dispersion function of the liver

Liver governs dispersion, generally refers to the comprehensive physiological functions of liver-energy, such as dispersing, regulating, raising, and smoothing the discharge function.

The functions of the liver to regulate dispersion are mainly manifested in three aspects: regulating mental emotions, promoting digestion and absorption, and maintaining the operation of vital-energy, blood and body fluids flow.

01 Regulate mental mood

Herbal medicine believes that not only is the mental activity of a person dominated by the heart, it is also related to the liver’s dispersing function. If this function of the liver is normal, the human body can better coordinate its own mental and emotional activities, manifesting as a happy spirit, a happy mood, with a sensitive sense of reason.

On the other hand, if the dispersing function of the liver is under par, our digestive system will be adversely affected. We will be belching too much, and our chest and flank will show bloating and stuffiness and so on.

Moreover, if the dispersing function of the liver is going overboard, it is manifested as a state of excitement, such as irritability, dizziness, pain, insomnia and more dreams.

02 Promote digestion and absorption

The liver’s dispersing function contributes to the rise and fall of the spleen and stomach and the secretion of bile to maintain normal digestion and absorption functions. If the liver fails to disperse, it can affect the rise and fall of the spleen and stomach and the excretion of bile, resulting in symptoms of abnormal digestive function, such as loss of appetite, indigestion, belching and pantothenic acid, or abdominal distension, diarrhea and so on.

In herbal medicine, it is referred to as disharmony between the liver and stomach, or irregularity of liver and spleen.

Maintain the flow of vital-energy, blood and body fluids

The liver’s dispersing function directly affects the regulation of vital-energy flow. If the liver fails to disperse and becomes stagnate, the vital-energy flow will be blocked. Then we may feel pain in the chest and flank, the breast, or the lower abdomen.
Vital-energy flow is the driving force for blood circulation. If the liver fails to disperse, it will lead to vital-energy stagnation and blood stasis may occur. It could then lead to a tingling pain in the chest and flank, or symptoms of lumps may occur. Women may also experience poor menstruation, dysmenorrhea, and amenorrhea.

If the liver’s dispersing function fails, ascites and edema symptoms may appear.

02 Blood storage function of the Liver

To be continued.
